How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not.
The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document
proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks
what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept
separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth, added on
13 September 2026, marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not
testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information
rather than lacking it.
ConfirmedAttested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a
government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
ProbableStrongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field,
or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Not foundSearched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the
person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Family testimonySupplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for
it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands
apart from the three record tags above S24.
DNA evidenceBiological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does
not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond:
no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document
was read for it S46.
Living — withheldThe person is living. By the privacy rule for this page, name and relationship are
shown, and at most a year the family has already published. Full dates of birth, ages,
places of residence and record identifiers are held back.
Research in progressA branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the
shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

Research status
Research status: CONFIRMED — confirmed 25 September 2026 from the register images: the 1837 Gerabronn marriage register
S444 names Georg Leonhard's parents as J. G. M. H. Kochendörfer and Eva Barbara geb. Hart[weck], and both Gerabronn burial entries
S452S453 record the couple, married 15 May 1810. First added 24 September 2026 as probable from index rows: the marriage indexes for Georg Leonhard Kochendörfer and Eva Margaretha Renk, 29 November 1837, name his parents as Johann Georg Martin Heinrich Kochendörfer and Eva Barbara Hertweck, whose own marriage the index put at Gerabronn, 12 May; both burial registers say 15 May 1810

- S444Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Parish Registers — Gerabronn, marriages 1837, no. 5: Georg Leonhard Kochendörfer and Eva Margaretha Renk, 29 November 1837. Ancestry record 914646708. Image examined, read 25 September 2026. Confirmed Georg Leonhard Kochendörfer, master cooper (Büttnermeister), born at Gerabronn 1 March 1811, son of Johann Georg Martin Heinrich Kochendörfer and Eva Barbara, marries on 29 November 1837 Eva Margaretha, born at Wallhausen 25 January 1809, daughter of Georg Andreas Renk, innkeeper and master baker at Wallhausen, and the late … Margaretha geb. Zins. The register image, read in place of the index rows cited before. Ancestry's index gives her birth as 15 January and her mother as “Eva Margareta Renk”; the image reads 25 January and Zins. It appears to call the mother Eva Margaretha, where the 1813 register (S443) says Maria Margaretha; the 1813 entry, made by her own husband's parish three years after her death, is followed here. The groom's mother's surname is only partly legible.
- S452Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Parish Registers — Gerabronn, burials 1837, no. 29: Johann Georg Martin Heinrich Kochendörfer, 4 August 1837. Ancestry record 14648184. Image examined, read 25 September 2026. Confirmed Johann Georg Martin Heinrich Kochendörfer, day labourer, born 22 March 1770, son of Johann Adam Martin Kochendörfer and Catharina Sophia Barbara, died 4 August 1837 of consumption (Auszehrung) and was buried on 6 August. His wife is Eva Barbara geb. Hartweck, married (copulirt) 15 May 1810; family register folio 171. The burial register itself, not an index row. The site had his marriage as 12 May 1810 from the index; this entry and his widow's (S453) both give 15 May.
- S453Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Parish Registers — Gerabronn, burials 1848, no. 9: Eva Barbara Kochendörfer geb. Hartweck, 18 May 1848. Ancestry record 14648485. Image examined, read 25 September 2026. Confirmed Eva Barbara Kochendörfer, geb. Hartweck, widow, born at Oberweiler [?] 3 May 1779, daughter of Johann Georg Hartweck, herdsman, and Maria Margaretha Schnürmann [?], died 18 May 1848 of dropsy of the heart and was buried on 20 May. Her husband died 4 August 1837; they married 15 May 1810; family register folio 171. The register spells her surname Hartweck; the site keeps the index spelling Hertweck for her name. Her birthplace and her mother's surname are only partly legible.
- S814Gerabronn marriage register, 1766, p. 53, no. 6 — Johann Georg Hartweck and Maria Margaretha Scheuermann, 8 April 1766. Ancestry record 914786966 (image 1528537-00949). Image examined, read 25 September 2026. Confirmed Johann Georg Hartweck [?] of Oberweiler marries Maria Margaretha Scheuermännin, daughter of Johann Adam Scheuermann of Gerabronn, at Michelbach an der Lücke. Read from the old German hand; the groom's surname is read with some doubt. Collection: Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Parish Registers.
