How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not.
The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document
proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks
what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept
separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth, added on
13 September 2026, marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not
testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information
rather than lacking it.
ConfirmedAttested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a
government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
ProbableStrongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field,
or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Not foundSearched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the
person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Family testimonySupplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for
it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands
apart from the three record tags above S24.
DNA evidenceBiological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does
not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond:
no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document
was read for it S46.
Living — withheldThe person is living. By the privacy rule for this page, name and relationship are
shown, and at most a year the family has already published. Full dates of birth, ages,
places of residence and record identifiers are held back.
Research in progressA branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the
shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

Research status
Research status: PROBABLE — accepted by Earl 28 September 2026 pending more evidence. Otto's own Social Security application, as indexed by both the Social Security Applications and Claims Index and the Numident, names his father as
Traugott Ladusch, and its birth date, 30 March 1873, matches Otto's death certificate exactly
S851S325. The 1945 death certificate of Pauline Wenzel, born in Germany in 1866, names her father as Traugott Ladusek and her mother as Johanna Sille
S850, which fits a Ladusch family with children in Germany from 1866. What is weak: the application has been seen only as an index, with no image read; Otto's death certificate gives his parents as “no record”
S325; and his Find a Grave memorial lists his children as Pauline Alise Wenzel, Annamarie Ehmling, Bertha Nonnenmacher and Reinhold Gustav Ladusch, without Otto
S336 Probable confirm or correct → Evidence: Otto's own Social Security application, indexed by both the SSACI and the Numident, names his father as Traugott Ladusch and gives the same birth date as Otto's death certificate. Weak or missing: It is an index only, with no image read; Otto's death certificate says 'no record' for his parents, and Traugott's Find a Grave child list omits Otto. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →

- S12FamilySearch Tree public pages, no login required for deceased persons — William Harry Proeger
KC1N-799, Aileane Marie Silva L9GZ-NDP, William Leonard Proeger L7GK-VBK, Queen Anne Proeger LHQW-W1L — ancestors.familysearch.org. User-contributed; event lists are treated as PROBABLE unless separately sourced. - S57Ancestry public member tree 119936132 ("Helm/Caffey Family Tree"), owned by a relative by marriage. Sixty-eight person pages were opened read-only on 14 September 2026 and their Relationships → Parents panels transcribed. NOT A RECORD. It is the source of every pre-1873 Caffey name, every pre-1890 Walker name, the whole Selland/Lone line, the Peters line above 1882, the Ladusch/Stein line above 1898 and the Landrock maiden name — and across its thirteen best-sourced ancestors, "Ancestry Family Trees" is cited on eleven of them, which is other users' trees, not documents. Everything drawn from it carries Family testimony and nothing is promoted. Nothing in it was edited; the role held is Guest, no paywall or CAPTCHA was bypassed, and the raw output is held in the private research directory. ⚠ Parent names were matched to person-IDs by link text, which resolved to the wrong person once where two people share a name — the names are reliable, any raw person-ID is not.
- S325Texas death certificate no. 72008 — Otto Ladusch, 1958. Texas, U.S., Death Certificates, 1903–1982 (Ancestry collection 2272, record 23561925). Read from the image. Born 30 March 1873, Germany; died 26 December 1958, Seton Hospital, Austin, Travis County; parents “no record”; buried Oakwood Cemetery.
- S3271900 U.S. Federal Census — Otto Ladusch household, Austin Ward 10, Travis County, Texas. Ancestry collection 7602, record 44319545. Read from the image. Otto 26, born Germany, immigrated 1883, married 5 years; wife Emma, born March 1875, Texas, 2 children both living; daughters Frieda 3 and Elizabeth 2.
- S336Find a Grave memorial 259939327 — Traugott Ladusch. Read 22–23 September 2026. Wife Johanna Selle (1835–1899); children Pauline Alise Wenzel, Annamarie Ehmling, Bertha Nonnenmacher and Reinhold Gustav Ladusch. Otto is not listed.
- S850Texas death certificate, registered no. 9604, Floresville, Wilson County — Pauline Wenzel, 1945. Texas, U.S., Death Certificates, 1903–1982 (Ancestry collection 2272, record 23333461, image 40394_b062269-02225). Image examined, read 28 September 2026. Probable Pauline Wenzel, widowed housewife, died 12 February 1945; born 24 February 1866, Germany; father Traugott Ladusek, born Germany; mother's maiden name Johanna Sille, born Germany; informant Max Wenzel, Floresville. A probable sister's certificate, not Otto Ladusch's; cited for the names of Traugott's wife and family.
- S851Social Security application of Otto Paul Ladusch — two indexes. U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index (Ancestry record 613670605) and FamilySearch 1:1:6K7G-NCPT (United States Social Security Numerical Identification Files). Index entry only — no image was examined, read 28 September 2026. Probable Otto Paul Ladusch, born 30 March 1873, “Gruny”, West Germany; father Traugott Ladusch; mother “?”. Both index the same application; the SS-5 image has not been read. The birth date matches Otto's 1958 death certificate (S325), whose parents are “no record”.
- S1035Texas Death Index, 1903–1940, page 14850. Ancestry record 5502807. Image examined in the Stage 2 reading, 29 September 2026. Confirmed Ladusch, Traugott, Fayette County, died 7 July 1906, certificate 29481. The only Traugott Ladusch in the index.
